Your Needs Right Now
When faced with an unplanned pregnancy, you may have many concerns. You may need help with medical care, insurance, housing, food, clothing, transportation, job training or educational information. Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) can help.
First, if you don’t have a doctor yet, LSSI will refer you to community resources for free or low-cost medical care for pregnant women so you can begin getting pre-natal care right away.
Next, we will work with you to look into community resources to meet your other needs or explore options for your future. State law allows LSSI to help with some expenses like housing, food, clothing and transportation for a specific period of time before and after the delivery of your baby. Financial assistance is time-limited and does not include lost wages, education expenses and gifts.
Financial assistance is handled differently for some types of adoption. Please talk to us to learn more.
For all adoptions, assistance is given freely. It doesn’t matter if you end up making an adoption plan or not. You do NOT have to make an adoption plan just because you receive financial assistance.
